Nepal is the safest destination for international visitors in South Asian region. Even during the time of a decade long violent conflict in the country that lasted till 2006, it was a safe place to visit for international visitors. The country hosted 23rd Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS) in 2002 with grand success, at the time when the country was suffering from the violent conflict. After the reinstatement of peace in 2006, the country is progressing towards socio economic development. Nepal has been hosting several international events of various interests since a long. It even held successful international conferences in 2015. The year full of distress, and disappointment due to the mega earthquake and the unofficial blockades of India over its dissatisfaction on New Nepal Constitution.

The situation has much improved now as the constitution has been adopted and there is stability in the country after one and half decade long conflicts and transitional phases.

The government has announced the upcoming year 2020 as Visit Nepal Year and has kept it at its priority list. Similarly, recently the government has announced promotion of MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism in Nepal in coming days and to invest in building infrastructure for the same.

The regional conference on one hand will contribute to boost up Nepal’s economy that lowered after the earthquake and blockade benefiting the workers involved in the whole process.  On another hand it also help to promote tourism in Nepal and convey message of Nepal being safe and able to hold international events successfully. UNI APRO regional conference will be a stride towards meeting MICE tourism agenda of the government.
